European Medical University (EMU) was founded in 1993 by Dr. Viktor Vasyliovych Abramov, a Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, and Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Ukraine. He served as the university’s rector until 2017. In recognition of his contributions to medical education, Dr. Abramov was honored with the title of “Excellent Worker in Education of Ukraine” and received multiple awards from the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports, as well as the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of Ukraine.

About European Medical University

Under his leadership, the Chair of Complementary and Alternative Medicine was established by Associate Professor Alisa Georgiyivna Krasovskaya, a candidate of medical sciences. In 1999, the university received its first accreditation at the third level of higher education, as per the decision of the State Accreditation Commission of Ukraine on December 21, 1999 (Protocol No. 24). The following year, EMU was awarded the Diploma of Higher Education Institutions Rating of Ukraine.

Between 2003 and 2007, the university established long-term collaborations with the Department of Reflexology at the Kyiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, Weifang State Medical Academy (China), and Su-Jok Therapy specialists (South Korea), enhancing its focus on both conventional and alternative medicine.

In 2011, EMU began enrolling international students. In 2017, Associate Professor Sergey Viktorovich Abramov, a candidate of medical sciences and Corresponding Member of the Academy of Technological Sciences of Ukraine, was appointed as the university’s new rector.

On May 25 of the same year, EMU obtained licenses for degree programs in Medicine (222) and Dentistry (221). The Medical Faculty now offers higher education in these fields, and since 2017, the university has also expanded into master’s degree programs.

European Medical University (EMU) conducts its educational activities in accordance with state-standard educational and professional programs, educational qualification characteristics, and curricula approved by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Since 1999, in addition to state exams, EMU students have been required to take the State Licensed Integrated Exams (KROK-1 and KROK-2), which are conducted by the Center for Testing Professional Competence at the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in line with international standards.
